A Memorial Tribute to Rosanne Knerr Hough

Singer, volunteer, 74
-----Roseanne "Nancy" Knerr Hough, 74, of Spring Mill, a singer and volunteer, died of complications from dementia Friday at home.
-----A talented soprano, Mrs. Hough performed at weddings and social events as a soloist and in duets with her husband, William Hough, Jr.
-----The couple sang selections from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas at a concert in 1987 to benefit Hahnemann University Hospital. Mrs. Hough chaired the event, sponsored by the Hahnemann Hospital Association. She was an active member and a former president of the association.
-----In 1848 her great-grandfather Constantine Hering, a German physician, opened the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania, which later merged with Hahnemann.
Mrs. Hough grew up in Germantown and graduated from Friends Central School in Wynnewood.
-----While attending Colorado College in Colorado Springs she was seriously injured in an automobile accident. Despite physical impairments resulting from the accident, she worked for several years as a secretary at the University of Pennsylvania and for a Center City insurance company. She later worked for her father's metal products company in Wyndmoor.
In 1951 she married William Kupper. They divorced several years later. He is deceased. In 1967 she married William Hough Jr.
-----In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hough is survived by daughters Lawrie Kupper Haasis and Ricarda Stockton Kupper; sons William Hough, Eugene Hough, and Townsend Hough; three brothers; and four grandchildren.
-----A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Gwynedd Friends Meeting House, Sumneytown Pike and Route 202. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be sent to Hopewell Hospice Foundation of America, 525 Route 70 West, Lakewood, N.J. 08701

ROSANNE KNERR (NANCY) of Whitemarsh died peacefully in her home after a long illness on Feb 14, 2003.
-----She was the beloved wife of William J.H.Hough, Jr. She is survived by 2 daughters, Ricarda Stockton Kupper and Lawrie Kupper Haasis; 3 sons, William J.H. Hough, III, Eugene P. Hough and Townsend B. Hough; a son-in-law, John C. Haasis, III; 4 grandchildren; J. Christian Haasis, IV, W. Blake Haasis, Coby Reid Haasis and Carrie K. Zuckerman and 3 brothers; Conrad H. Knerr, Theodore N. Knerr and Barry E. Knerr.
-----A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 2:30 PM at the Gwynedd Friends Meeting, Sumneytown Pike & Rt 202. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made in Nancy's name to Hopewell Hospice Foundation of America, Lakewood, NJ, or a charity of one's own choice.
